These Terms and Conditions (“Agreement”) govern the use of the www.lizpateymakeup.co.uk website and the provision of hair and makeup services provided by Liz Patey Makeup Artist (“Service Provider,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) to you (“Client,” “you,” or “your”). By browsing this website or requesting our services, you agree to these terms.

1. Use of This Website

  • The content of the pages of this website is for your general information and use only. It is subject to change without notice.
  • This website uses cookies to monitor browsing preferences. Please refer to our Privacy Policy for full details on cookies used.
  • Neither we nor any third parties provide any warranty or guarantee as to the accuracy, timeliness, performance, completeness or suitability of the information and materials found or offered on this website for any particular purpose.
  • Your use of any information or materials on this website is entirely at your own risk, for which we shall not be liable.
  • This website contains material which is owned by or licensed to us. This includes, but is not limited to, the design, layout, look, appearance, photography and graphics. Reproduction is prohibited.
  • Unauthorised use of this website may give rise to a claim for damages and/or be a criminal offence.
  • Your use of this website and any dispute arising out of such use is subject to the laws of England and Wales.

Part B — Service Terms

2. Scope of Services

We provide professional hair and makeup artistry services including (but not limited to):

  • Bridal hair and makeup
  • Destination wedding services (travel included)
  • Editorial and media makeup
  • Makeup lessons and consultations
  • Personal styling services
  • Trials and consultations

3. Booking and Confirmation

  • You submit a booking enquiry via our website contact form or by email/phone
  • We will respond within 2 working days to discuss availability, requirements, and pricing
  • A booking is only confirmed once we have agreed on the date, time, location, and service cost
  • These Terms and Conditions form the entire agreement between you and the Service Provider
  • No verbal agreement modifies these terms unless confirmed in writing by email

4. Pricing and Payment

  • We will provide a custom quotation based on service type, travel distance, date, and number of people
  • Quotations are valid for 30 days
  • A non-refundable deposit of 50% is required to secure your booking date
  • The remaining balance (50%) is due 4 weeks before your event
  • Payment method: Bank transfer (details provided with invoice)
  • If payment is not received by the agreed date, we reserve the right to cancel your booking

5. Cancellation and Refunds

Cancellation by You (Client)

  • More than 8 weeks before event: Deposit refunded in full
  • 4–8 weeks before event: 50% deposit forfeited; 50% refunded
  • Less than 4 weeks before event: Full fee retained (no refund)
  • Within 2 weeks: Full fee retained; you remain liable for the booking

Rescheduling

  • We will attempt to accommodate a new date if available
  • If rescheduling occurs within 8 weeks of original date, the deposit is non-refundable
  • A new deposit may be required for the rescheduled date

Cancellation by Service Provider

  • We will only cancel if unavoidable circumstances arise (illness, emergency, force majeure)
  • If we cancel, we will provide at least 2 weeks’ notice and offer a full refund or alternative dates
  • We will recommend alternative makeup artists in the area

Force Majeure

Neither party is liable for non-performance due to events beyond reasonable control (natural disasters, pandemics, etc.). We will attempt to reschedule or provide a full refund.

6. Trials and Consultations

  • Trials are typically 1–2 hours and include makeup testing and photography for your reference
  • Trial costs are often discounted or credited towards your full service booking
  • Trial date must be booked at least 4 weeks before your event
  • You are responsible for informing us of any skin allergies, sensitivities, or conditions
  • We use professional, hypoallergenic products, but cannot guarantee reactions to all products

7. Service Terms

  • We will arrive at the agreed time and location
  • Standard bridal services include 2–3 hours for hair and makeup
  • If services exceed the agreed time due to additional guests, additional charges may apply
  • Travel costs are included for destinations within 30 miles of Wokingham, Berkshire
  • For longer distances, travel and accommodation costs are charged separately
  • We are not responsible for injury, illness, or allergic reactions resulting from our services

8. Images and Photography

  • You grant us the right to take photographs during your service (unless you request otherwise)
  • We will ask for your permission before using any photos publicly
  • Photos may be used for our portfolio, website, social media, and industry publications
  • You retain ownership of the images; we have a licence to use them for portfolio purposes only
  • Bridal clients’ details (wedding dates, venues, families) are kept confidential

9. Liability and Warranties

  • We warrant that services will be provided professionally, using quality products and techniques
  • We are insured for public liability (professional indemnity)
  • Our total liability is limited to the amount paid for services
  • You are responsible for providing accurate information (skincare, allergies, timings, location)

10. Conduct and Expectations

We reserve the right to end the service if you are intoxicated, abusive, or unreasonable in your demands. In such cases, the full fee is retained and no refund is provided.

11. Health and Safety

  • Clients must inform us if they have active communicable illness
  • We reserve the right to reschedule if you or your household have active illness
  • All products used are professional-grade and hypoallergenic where possible

12. Intellectual Property

Our makeup and hair techniques, colour matching process, and styling expertise are our intellectual property. You may not record, photograph, or replicate our methods without permission.

13. Complaint Resolution

  • Inform us during or immediately after your service so we can address it
  • Written complaints should be submitted within 7 days by email: liz.patey@sky.com
  • We will investigate and respond within 7 days
  • These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales

14. Amendments to Terms

We may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time. Continued booking or use of our services constitutes acceptance of updated terms. If any part of these Terms is found to be invalid, the remainder remains in effect.

15. Entire Agreement

This Agreement, together with our Privacy Policy, constitutes the entire agreement between you and the Service Provider.
